Bingo in its early forms has been traced way back to Italy in the 1530s where it was played as a form of lottery called “Lo Giuoco Code Lotto”. In 1778 a similar lotto game was recorded as having been played by aristocrats in France. In 1880 the game emerged in Germany and was used as an aid for teaching rather than a form of gambling.

In 1929, salesman Edwin S. Lowe, after watching carnival workers playing a game they called “beano”, saw the great potential in the game.
